ABQ by Cycle: Upcoming Events

Bike to Work Day LogoThere are a few important upcoming events that are just around the corner. They are the City Cycling class, Roadside Maintenance, the ABQ Bike Swap, and Bike to Work Day. Plus if you read yesterday’s post The National Bike Challenge is kicking off on May 1st. M and I have signed up to ride with the University of New Mexico as the pre-challenge warm-up is already off  and rolling (read more here).

 

City Cycling

Date: Monday April 21, 2014

Time: 5:30 – 8:30pm

Location:  Esperanza Community Bicycle Shop, 5600 Esperanza Dr NW (MAP)

Cost:  $10 per participant and payment is due at the time of the class, cash or checks are accepted

Class Topics: Learn to cycle safely in Albuquerque as a vehicular cyclist for fitness, commuting, or recreation. This three-hour seminar covers diverse topics including the rights and responsibilities of road users, traffic law, tips for comfortable riding, and much more.

*You do not need to bring your bicycle for this class.*

Roadside Maintenance

Date: Friday April 25, 2014

Time: 6:00 – 8:00pm

Location:  Esperanza Community Bicycle Shop, 5600 Esperanza Dr NW (MAP)

Cost:  $10 per participant and payment is due at the time of the class, cash or checks are accepted

Class Topics: The Roadside Maintenance class is designed with the commuter or recreational cyclist in mind. In this class we will discuss and practice flat tire repair and prevention, simple brake and shifting fixes, and other common roadside repairs to get you back on the road quickly.

ABQ Bike Swap

Date: Saturday April 26, 2014

Time: 10:00am  – 3:00pm

Location:  Sport Systems, 6915 Montgomery NE, Albuquerque

Bike to Work Day

Date: Friday May 16, 2014

Time: 6:30am  – 8:30

Locations:  Various Locations throughout the Albuquerque Area, 9 locations in total. This is a free event.
